Moissanite is one of the hardest gemstones in the world. With a little attention, your Veyelle piece will look exactly as it does today — years from now.
Daily Wear
Moissanite is durable enough for everyday wear. That said, a few habits will keep it looking its best:
- Put your jewelry on last — after perfume, lotion, and hairspray
- Remove it before swimming, showering, or exercising
- Avoid contact with cleaning products and household chemicals
Cleaning
To clean your piece at home:
- Fill a small bowl with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap
- Soak the piece for 5–10 minutes
- Gently scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush — pay attention to the setting around the stone
- Rinse under clean running water
- Pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth
- Allow to air dry completely before storing
Do not use ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, or abrasive cloths.
Storage
Each Veyelle piece arrives in its own box. Keep it.
Storing jewelry loose in a drawer allows pieces to scratch against each other. Keep each piece in its box, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
About the Plating
Our pieces are finished in white gold or 18K yellow gold plating over 925 sterling silver. Plating is durable but not permanent — it will wear gradually over time with regular use, particularly at contact points like ring bands.
To extend the life of the plating:
- Follow the cleaning and storage guidance above — store in the box when not wearing
- Avoid exposing your piece to chlorine, salt water, and harsh chemicals
- Remove rings before washing your hands when possible
If you notice the plating wearing on a piece you love, replating is an affordable service offered by most local jewelers.
A Note on Rings
Rings experience more wear than other jewelry — they make contact with surfaces constantly. If you wear your Veyelle ring daily, expect to replate it every 1–2 years with regular care. Necklaces and earrings will typically last much longer before needing attention.
